We are pleased with our new Philips combo DVD. It does all that we expected. DVD playback is perfect. NO skipping. We have yet to burn any disks from VCR tapes though. I don't doubt there will be any problem archiving home movies.
I like the HDMI connection and the picture on my TV. Great one-touch VHS to DVD transfer feature. Easy to use and a value at the price I paid.
Works exactly as said. i have had no problems at all. Instructions are strait forward and clear. Recording and dubbing are easy and are very user friendly. I would buy this product agin. Thanks
I'm very happy with this player. It's extremely easy to set up and use. It does a terrifc job of copying VHS tapes and converting them to DVD, even on an old analog TV. With the built-in Digital Tuner I will have no trouble playing it on a HD T
This is a good box. It replaces a separate DVD player and vhs player, and can record dvd as well. It has a built-in digital tuner, and up- converts whatever it plays to the resolution of the tv. It has a digital output (HDMI) to go the tv. In my applicati
Very pleased with service and product. Fast delivery and great price. item was exactly as described.
Philip's DVD VCR tuner is easy to install and easy to operate from their owner's manual. The recordings are clear. The price is good considering it has it's own tuner and is of good quality.
Had a bunch of VHS taking up too much space and deteriorating in quality over time. This unit does a good job of dubbing from VHS to DVD. I use Sony DVD +R like the manual suggests and no problem viewing on other players after finalizing. Allows you t
i've read some reviews on this item and some where bad and some where good. well this one is excellent. this unit has done everything the spec's said it would. but, the resolution is outstanding. I own other brands or dvd recorders and this one

Decided to get a DVD recorder, but still needed a VHS recorder. The Philips DVDR3545V with Built-In Tuner met the qualifications. Used the Quick Start Guide to hookup the components (~10 minutes). Be sure to disconnect all components - I disconnected the

I bought this for my parents whose analog VCR will soon be unable to receive any signal. The setup screens looks easy to use. In fact, it looks just like our Toshiba DR560 1080p Upconverting DVD Recorder with Built-in Tuner . They probably use the same
Philips DVP3345V/17 DVD/VCR Combo So far this unit has performed flawlessly. The picture quality surprised me by how good it is. This was the best value since I needed a combo that has a built-in tuner. I use this product every day. I have recorded both t
We have been very pleased with this product. The only negative we have found so far (2 months of using) is the remote stinks. It's too small and it's not very user-friendly. We haven't tried the recording from VHS to DVD yet, but are lookin
This was my second purchase of a combo recorder - it should have been my first! In late 2005 I bought an LG LRY-517 DVDR/VCR. The biggest mistake of my life! The LG had constant problems with both DVD and VHS playback. I thought this might be a universal
I haven't had time to actually try to record DVDs yet, but so far it works great. It plays DVDs and VHS tapes with no problems which was the reason I replaced my old unit (it would overheat after playing 1 movie). The menus are simple and the remote
this thing is BOWLING SHOE UGLY compared to my other Philips/Magnavox equipment. Yeah, I'm nit-picking...sorry. Function wise, user-friendly, performance...no problem rating it an A+ item. I would normally not complain, but we have an awesome enterta
Initially, I bought the Panasonic DMR-EZ47V, based on Consumer Report's high ranking. It was a glitchy, slow, maddening disaster. I returned it and got this Philips, and so far, no complaints. Turns on and changes digital channels reasonably quickly.
Found it difficult to operate at first. After doing some reading it became much easier to operate. I am quite happy with dubbing is easy and recording is a breeze. It does have its draw backs on recording and does not warn you that the program is unrec
I was having problems coping from tape to DVD, the DVD would only play on their machine. I tried everything burned about 7 DVD's before I decide to call tech support which was very good. It turned out you can only use either Maxell or Philips DVD
While I have not used all of the functions available with this unit, it does everything it claims that I have tried. It is not as easy to use as other DVD players and VCRs I have owned. Less tecnical folks will struggle operating this unit. The Documen
I bought this 7 months ago and fell in love with it despite the fact that my machine was defective and kept locking up on me. Customer service at Philips is great, they had me pay shipping to return the machine, then sent a new one out (a month later).
while i did have an issue when first starting i was able to resolve it and am VERY glad i did. this is a very good machine. [issue concerned the initial set up where the instructions and phone help, were somewhat confusing]
Is it technical failure, or is it user error? I've asked myself this question several times while trying to get my DVRs to work. If you had trouble using your VCR, it's about to get worse! These beasts are sluggish and complicated, and I'm
This is a great VCR/DVD combo with built in tuner but a little problematic to set up to the TV. It took many tries to get it to work properly and was frustrating but once set up it is good. The DVR taping is very complicated but we mostly bought it for

This recorder did everything we wanted it to do. Mainly burning our old home movies, off our Sony Handycam, from 8mm to DVD. Our only problem was that the format is not compatable with our HP computer. So we are hoping to find some software that will allo
I was looking to replace an old VCR that was on it's last legs. I time-slip all my TV viewing on a Panasonic DVR so I never have to watch commercials. Occasionally, there a two programs on at the same time that I want to watch and so the VCR comes
My wife and I purchased this product on Sept 15. We finally gotten time to hook this up. On our first t.v., we could not get the thing to work proper. This was being connected to our cable box. On our second T.V. we was not able to get this product to fun
I have a question about the VCR function. Can you record a show on one channel and watch TV on another???? Example. I am recording on channel 3 and can still change the channel on my TV to any one I want. This was done all the time on VCR's. YOu wou
Unit performs very nicely except for excessive pressure placed on the tape at the end of rewind which causes the tape to be pulled off the reel. Philips is going to replace the unit. It turns out that the replacement machine has a different tape transpor
I bought 2 refurbished units, one for my dad and one for me. The main selling points were the digital tuner and recordable to either vhs or disk. Dad's dvd wouldn't open at all and had to be sent back for a replacement but had to do some real fi
I record very few shows, but one that I like to watch is "Inside the NFL" on HBO. When I tried to record it, I found that I couldn't record a nice clear picture with the DVD, but instead had to record a fuzzy, blurry picture with the VCR.
Unlike other VCRs, you don't get a TV image while the VCR is stopped or paused. Only a blue screen. You can't change TV channels from the remote when the VRC is turned on. Also the "info" button is useless on a VCR tape. It stops and s
recorded our babies life onto disc from VHS using this machine . Can't play the discs we made on other any other DVD player. None!.... Can only play disc on this player! Waste of time! Poor design. very upsetting!
I googled model #DVDR3545V and this Philips model with a /37 came up here, along with lots and lots of really negative reviews on the web of the model without the /37. Since it states in the description that this model (with the /37) is a reconditioned m
This product only works if you don't use the "daily" timer programing. For instance I wanted to tape a soap that comes on M-F at the same time each day. I programmed it and it taped the show and when I went to watch it, I couldn't get
I bought this DVD/VCR recorder 4 months ago. It never did perform to my satisfaction. The software on the digital tuner freezes up, you have to restart the machine or switch from digital to analog and then back to digital so it will work again. The scann
I am on a replacement unit---which turns out to be worse than the first. This machine's VHS recording results are so poor that you cannot tell what you are watching. This machine will play BUT NOT record to DVD. And, Philip's customer service
From the beginning, the VCR would stick - after 3 uses, it doesn't work at all. Forget recording anything. This is a cheap piece of junk. Unfortunately, it took a month from a time we bought it to when we hooked it up - too late to return it to

When hooked up the television cable, the picture quality became poor. After recording, watching it, the quality worse. Very difficult to program. Am replacing it ASAP.
The only question I have is never answered clearly. Will this unit record one program while you're watching something else on the tv, or is it going to record the same thing that's on the screen? Only my old VCRs, which have all died except fo
