Netflix Streaming Movies Through Samsung Blu-ray Players

A month or two ago Netflix announced they will finally begin providing subscribers with a halfway decent selection of streaming "Watch Instantly" movies thanks to their partnership with Starz. Now, Netflix has teamed up with Samsung to bring you those instant movies via your Samsung Blu-ray player. But you have to subscribe to Netflix's upgraded Blu-ray subscription, which costs an extra $1 a month.
Much like your old school landline home phone was connected to the cable box to provide Pay-Per-View, your Samsung Blu-ray player will allow you to watch your Netflix streaming titles directly on your television set.
The compatible Samsung Blu-ray players include the BD-P2500 and the BD-P2550. Did you know those things had internet connections? What will technology think of next?
The beauty of this deal is that the Samsung players are already on the market and the Netflix hardware "update" is free. Well, free is a relative word. It's free if you ignore the $400 you just paid for the Blu-ray player and the $17.99 a month you shell out for your Netflix Blu-ray subscription.
Samsung isn't the first company that Netflix has approached with this idea. With the continuing effort to marry your television with your computer (Can you imagine what the children will look like?) Netflix has included this technology with the LG BD300 Blu-ray player and they have been in negotiations with Microsoft and Xbox for months.
We predict Blockbuster will follow suit, because that is just what they do.
