Netflix without the Envelopes: Blu-Ray Player Streams Internet Direct to TV

I'm lucky to still have my Netflix account. After losing over ten movies in the mail I somehow convinced the nice representative at Netflix (Thanks again, Shayla) to keep sending me their red envelopes. I hope you movie bandits (whoever you are) are enjoying MY copies of Runaway Jury, School of Rock, A League of Their Own, Monk Season 5 disk 2... I thought you'd stop after making off with MY copy of The Moon Spinners, not to mention Bringing Up Baby (for my mother-in-law...I swear), but I guess a free flick is a free flick. Good luck selling those winners at Pawn-O-rama.

But my problems may be solved, thanks to LG's new BD300 network Blu-ray Player.

Announced early this year, LG confirmed that we will soon (this fall) be able to stream over 12,000 Netflix movies on-demand directly to our TV. The LG BD300 will become the first Blu-ray deck with Internet video, relying on wired broadband. From the looks of it Netflix members will be able to browse and select content right from their La-Z-boy. After updating their queue, Netflix members will be able to instantly watch their choices directly on their TV, and even fast-forward or rewind the video stream. Expect the price to be in the $400 range.

Looks like I'll be able to access even more content and never have to walk to the mailbox. Thanks to the LG BD300, I'll soon be able to watch Rick Moranis in Little Shop of Horrors within seconds, and I won't have to worry about you pilfering my red envelope. I won't even have to walk out to the mailbox and back. And while I might yearn for opening the anticipated red envelope, I don't think I'll miss the disappointment of finding Bringing Up Baby in my mailbox.
