The PlayStation 3 stands apart from other Blu-ray players and other gaming consoles for its multimedia capabilities. Functioning equally well as both video game console and web browser, the PS3 also makes a strong argument as a central entertainment fixture by functioning as a CD, DVD and Blu-Ray player, while offering full compatibility with several audio file formats.
Sony has long considered the PlayStation 3 an all-around entertainment center. Along with being among the best in the market for a gaming console, the PS3 has stayed at the top and will continue to be a leader in Blu-ray players.
The PS3 is the only video game console that can play the Blu-Ray format, and with the launch of its video downloading service on the PlayStation Network, videos, films and TV shows can be downloaded directly to the hard drive.
The future of Blu-ray is changing, but the PS3 has been made “future-proof” in a way, because it is compatible with all the formats of Blu-ray outputs that are currently on the market.
For the most part, experts and users have loved their PS3. They liked it for the versatility and the overall ease of use. It has great video playback and a relatively quick speed to upload movies.
However, there are some drawbacks that users have found. If the PS3 is already on when you input the disc, the player doesn’t immediately recognize it and can make it somewhat difficult to access the movie. However, this problem was minor and most users felt like only extreme videophiles and those looking to save 20 seconds of their life would mind the extra button clicking it would take to get to the movie.
Sony has the trump card with the PS3. The versatility and multimedia capability of the PlayStation makes it a great addition to your entertainment center. From a gaming console to a web browser, this Blu-ray player takes home the cake on getting everything done.
